For the Cohere notes app · Last updated September 18, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what Cohere collects and how we use it. Plain language first.
Summary
Cohere is local-first: notes live on your device by default.
Firebase sync is optional. If you never sign in for sync, your notes stay on the device.
We do not sell your personal data.
Cohere is a $3.99 USD one-time App Store / Play Store purchase (no subscription). Purchase is handled by Apple or Google; we do not receive your full payment card details.
1. Who we are
Nova Spes LLC provides Cohere. Contact via the store listing support link or novaspesllc.com/cohere.
2. Information we process
On your device (always)
Notes, folders, checklists, tags, attachments, and settings you create
Optional Face ID / biometrics only to unlock notes you lock (handled by the OS; we do not store biometric templates)
If you create an account / enable sync
Email address and authentication identifiers (via Firebase Authentication)
Note and folder content synced to Firebase Firestore under your user ID
Attachment files synced to Firebase Storage under your user ID
Basic technical logs from Firebase/Google related to auth and sync reliability
Store purchases
Apple and Google process the one-time $3.99 purchase. We may receive non-sensitive purchase confirmation signals from the stores, not your full payment card number.
3. How we use information
Provide the notes app and optional cross-device sync
Secure your account and prevent abuse
Improve reliability (crash/diagnostic data only if you use platform tooling that sends it)
We do not use your notes to train public AI models, and we do not sell personal data or note contents to advertisers.
4. Sharing
We use infrastructure providers needed to run optional sync—primarily Google Firebase (Auth, Firestore, Storage). They process data under their terms as service providers.
We may disclose information if required by law or to protect rights and safety.
We do not sell personal information.
5. Retention
Local data remains until you delete notes, uninstall the app, or use Delete Account.
Cloud data for a signed-in account remains until you delete the account or remove synced content.
Delete Account (in Settings) wipes local Cohere data on that device and, when Firebase is available, deletes the Auth user and associated cloud data for that account.
6. Children
Cohere is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your region). Do not create an account for a child below that age.
7. Security
We rely on device storage protections and Firebase security rules that scope data to your signed-in user ID. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
8. Your choices
Use the app without an account (local-only)
Sign in only when you want cross-device sync
Sign out anytime
Delete your account and data from Settings
Turn off Firebase sync in Settings (local store continues to work)
9. International / transfers
If you enable sync, data may be processed on servers operated by Google Firebase in regions configured for the project.
10. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy. The “Last updated” date will change when we do. Continued use after updates means you accept the revised policy.
